Self-Paced Courses

STEP 1: Select your courses

• Review self-paced course offerings in the Course Search (you may search for self-paced courses by selecting subject, online or by CRN. A CRN (Course Reference Number) is a five-digit number that uniquely identifies the course section. (Example: 10142 = ANTH 102A)
• Write down the CRN, course subject and number, title, session and type for each course selection. See example below. You will need this information to assist you with your online course selection(s).

CRN: 10142
Course: ANTH 102A
Title: Human Origins and Culture
Session: Online
Type: Self-Paced

Note: Degree-seeking and nondegree students may enroll in up to three course sections at a time. NetMath and MathTeacher Link students are exceptions to this rule; they can only take one course at a time.

STEP 2: Verify your eligibility

Verify that you have the appropriate prerequisites. If you are a University of Illinois student and you wish to enroll in a self-paced course, a signature from your college dean is required. We will obtain this on your behalf. Please note that this may take additional time during your enrollment process. If you are enrolling in an online course, also make sure you have the necessary Web browser and technical requirements for the selected courses.

STEP 3: Register online

Visit our online registration site and follow the steps outlined below to complete registration. The enrollment process takes approximately two weeks to finalize. Please be patient. Payment for tuition and fees must be included with your online enrollment form and can be made by check, money order, or credit card (VISA, Discover, MasterCard and American Express). Checks and money orders should be made payable to the University of Illinois.

Note that NetMath and Math Teacher Link students do not have to submit payment at the time of registration; they are, instead billed for their courses.

• Create login and password as a New Student or login as a Returning Student, then Save and Go to the Next Step
• Agree to Credit Registration Agreement
• Complete personal information as requested
• Register for your course(s)
• Select Term: Self-Paced
• Select: Subject
• Select your course:

• Confirm your course selection
• Finalize your registration

You will receive a printable confirmation summary page, which ensures that we have received your registration form.
