About Us
Online & Continuing Education (OCE) has been serving learners for over 75 years. We provide leadership for lifelong learning and online and distance education. In collaboration with members of the University community, we design, plan, and present credit, noncredit, and professional development programs relating to the University’s land grant mission of teaching, research, and public service to people of all ages and in all locations.
Originally established in 1933 as the Division of University Extension to serve the needs of working professionals, non-traditional students, and lifelong learners, our unit's name was recently changed to Online & Continuing Education to reflect the growing portfolio of online programs we now handle.
Today, OCE provides undergraduate, graduate, and professional development programs that link more than 75,000 citizens of Illinois and beyond to the Urbana-Champaign campus.
